I want this.
This makes me uncomfortable.
I am all for doing what’s best for you and loving your body, and I agree that all the things on the right side of the list can make someone really happy and have nothing to do with your body.
I’m not sure how I feel about some of the items on the left side. I can see how fashion magazines might reinforce an unhealthy body image or the fake tanning might damage your skin and put you at risk of melanoma, but I’m of the mind that it’s your body and love it how you want to.
I think the intention of “how you look isn’t important” is sort of missing the point of Love Your Body Day. Maybe I am. I always figured all the superficial stuff on the left is just like tattoos/piercings/other body mods: they help people express themselves physically. If those things help you love your body more, I don’t see how they’re a bad thing. I guess it has more to do with why you’d get them and who for.
Also, I don’t know if the prices of all the lines are so equivalent. It’s entirely possible I’m completely out of touch with how much things cost.
